we’re excited to announce a variety of super affordable ways to become a member of the bohemians! to better provide services as a venue, we’re going to be moving towards an entirely members based group – a la the starlight room! that means that our awesome yearly memberships will soon be mandatory for shows – but don’t fret, we’re not going to make ya’ll cough up your cookie dough!

for the next few weeks, you can get a membership for $5 or less! that’s right, for half the price of our normal memberships you can join the ranks of the bohemians and directly support local art and music culture! as a sweet added bonus, membership will get you discounts on cover, special access to workshops and participation nights, reduced prices on our favourite Amber’s Brewing Co. products, and much more! of course, you can still always participate in a show, volunteer, or help book & promote shows to get a free membership, so don’t think we’re going too upscale and leaving our as broke as us friends behind!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 13th – open mic comedy night!

join us for another gutbustingly funny open mic night! featuring a witty cast of first timers, seasoned pros and everyone in between – join the bohemians and get your laugh on! and hey, if you don’t think it’s hard to get up on stage and make us laugh, sign up and strut your stuff!! show at 8pm sharp, and is free/entry by donation! (donations buy performers drinks so please be generous! :)

** it was to be a night of pure turntables, but when the midi controller came out and ableton live was fired up, we knew something was afoot! before long, we were getting down to amazing minimal sounds worthy of a montreal club night! following that sick set, it was a 3-way tri-song mixfest, with 3 djs rotating out after 3 songs played! what a night of variety and dance! **
8pm, saturday august 14th – free dj music night!
join us for an evening of turntable tricks, beat blasting, loop lurching locked down funk! featuring a cadre of masterful mixmeisters, local djs soulstiss, e.q. tweaker, equatorial and monkey mode will have you on the dancefloor shaking your tush! from unheard before bass bumps to funky breaks to classic hip-hop to dubstep to metal to 1990s best groanworthy love affairs and things you thought no one would ever attempt to mix, bring your dancing shoes and rock on! music starts at 8pm and goes late, no cover – but if you can, please bring a donation to the edmonton foodbank to get a dollar off your first drink!

join us this evening for an excellent edition of our open mic jam! we have you kick the stage’s tires and let you take it for a test drive, all powered by your own funk! bring your guitar, your pan flute, your drum, your harmonica, your sunglasses, your trumpet, your keyboard, your poetry book, or anything that presents a show! caper about with a microfone and tell a tale, play a song, or just sit and fred penner it up a bit, we love it all!
