we are a member based creative organization operating in edmonton, alberta, canadia! we believe that visual, auditory and performance art are meant to be intertwined at every opportunity – not hidden behind a velvet rope at some hoity toity function. as such, we strive to throw an amazing show every month that showcases what makes edmonton so special – namely a type of people who have thrown off the shackles of mindless, non-interactive entertainment as pushed by the growing trend of faceless, money-grubbing clubs. in all our travels across canada, we’ve found that edmontonians really do love and support the arts on a local level and aren’t afraid to show it – whether it’s artists hanging their amazing art on our walls for our patrons to appreciate, musical maestros kicking out the jams on our little stage in front of a very appreciative audience, tireless volunteers holding down one of the many positions that make our community venue tick, or other awesome activities that help the bohemians spread the vision of art for all… in short, this is a celebration of YOU!

some would have you believe that art & music is a hallowed hall none shall breach with sundry excitement – they would have us commodify and sterilize to make what we do more palatable to a larger audience. now don’t get us wrong, we’re trying to spread the love to all who seek it, but never at the cost of what makes our social scene so secsy! we find creative power in standing together, our voices lifted in cadence – and we’re not afraid to tell the world at large that we think performance in all of its guises deserves a spotlight! after all, doing what you love without fear is what we believe to be a path to happiness, and we want to share that with you and your friends & family – especially the friends you haven’t met yet!

we feature: a colourful 1700sq feet of funky space + walls aplenty to hang from, a 16-channel soundboard with 1/4″ line-ins, xlr mic ins, and a couple line level RCA ins hooked through our beautiful hacked up stereo system/PA, 4 medium quality microphones and stands, multitrack recording, spotlights for art & for the stage, sound activated funky flashing disco lights, turntables & mixer; midi ports, and more neat people than you can shake a stick at! if you’d like more information about our gear or what you might need to bring to participate, let us know!

a note to everyone looking to perform on stage – we record ALL our shows and events and usually have archives up on the site, soon to include video podcasts to show what you may have missed! by taking part, you are hereby made aware of said recording. if you’d like a master copy of your work, let us know!

a note to everyone showing art – please be aware that hanging is done the day of the show, between 11am and no later than 5pm, unless you email and make other arrangements in advance! there are no hanging fees; a mere 15% commission on sold art; display for a full month in our day gallery, cafe and live music venue; and we would love it if the purchaser and yourself would agree to keep the pieces up until the next show with a big bright sold sticker (so everyone else can kick themselves for not buying it first, of course :)! all art should be picked up the day of the next art show (the last saturday of each month) between 11am and 5pm unless you email and make other arrangements in advance! art left behind for more than 60 days past the hanging date will be donated to bohemians unless prior arrangements have been made. by participating you get a free membership valid for 1 year – which entitles the bearer to bring 1 guest to each show (that’s 42 cents per person per show!) so come get your art on with us, and drop us a line today! now accepting bookings for july 31st, august 28th, september 25th, october 30th, november 27th, december 25th and beyond!
